Chelsea Football Club is located in London, UK in the area of Fulham a couple of miles away from Chelsea & Kensington. Chelsea currently compete domestically in the English Premier League and traditionally play in a royal blue and white kit.

In 1904, Stamford Bridge stadium was acquired by Gus Mears, with the aim of turning the stadium into a football ground. At this point Fulham F.C. had already been established, so Mears chose to use the name of the neighbouring area Chelsea for the football team, which was then founded in 1905.

From their foundation, Chelsea have played at Stamford Bridge and have spent the majority of their time in the top tier of the English league pyramid. Over the years the ground has been developed heavily, but Chelsea are still linked with moves away from the stadium. This is due to the small capacity of 41,837 when compared to other large Premier League clubs.

Chelsea's first major success came in 1955 when they won the English league title for the first time. Following the league victory they also won a number of cups in the 1960s and 1970s. In the late 1990s the club began to have more success, before they were taken over by the Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich. Since 1997 and the Abramovich era the club has won 15 major trophies.

Chelsea are not known for having a strong rivalry with any other London team. Over the years they have had rivalries with Queens Park Rangers and also Fulham, but more recently games between Arsenal and Chelsea have carried the most importance.

Domestically Chelsea have won 4 English league titles, 7 FA Cups and 4 League Cups, meaning they are considered a successful English football team. Chelsea have had success in European competitions also, winning 2 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, one UEFA Europa League title and one UEFA Champions League title. This makes them one of only 4 clubs in Europe, and the only one domestically, to have won all three major UEFA club competitions.

Since the Abramovich takeover, Chelsea have grown to one of the richest football clubs in the world. The club was valued at £588 million in 2014 and seen as the 7th most valuable football club that year.
