Hull City Association Football Club are an English football club, located in Kingston upon Hull, Yorkshire, UK. Hull City currently play in the English Premier League domestically. The club's nickname is The Tigers playing in an amber and black kit. Club officials in 2014 wanted to rename the club "Hull Tigers", however the move was rejected by the English FA and the club remained as Hull City.

Hull were originally founded in 1904. The city of Hull had struggled to create a football team until this point, due to the dominance of Rugby League in the area. Hull City joined The Football League in the 1905–06 season, after playing a year of friendlies. Following their formation, Hull remained in the English second tier, before they were relegated in 1930.

In the first year of the clubs existence, they played their home games at The Boulevard. Following problems with the stadium owners, they moved to Anlaby Road, where they played until 1939. Following the Second World War, the club played at Boothferry Park until 2002, when they moved to their current home, the KC Stadium.

The club has spent the majority of its existence outside the English top-tier and was promoted to the Premier League for the first time in their history in 2008, after they won the Football League Championship playoffs.

Hull's main rivals are Scunthorpe United and Grimsby Town. All three teams are considered part of the Humber derby, which dates back to 1905 when Hull City played Grimsby Town. Hull also have other Yorkshire derbies with a number of teams, however they aren't considered as important.

The club's major success came in 2014, when they were runners-up to Arsenal in the FA Cup. Due to Arsenal reaching The Champions League that year, it meant Hull reached a European competition for the first time. They failed to make the full competition after they lost on away goals in the Playoff round to Lokeren. In domestic cup competitions, Hull have been runners-up in the Football League Trophy in 1994 and runners-up in the Watney Cup in 1974.
